The East Carolina Heart Institute is made up of two state-of-the-art facilities: the $60 million, 206,000-square-foot outpatient and research facility on ECU's health sciences campus, and the $150 million, 375,000-square-foot inpatient cardiovascular hospital at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Within each facility, we've established integrated patient care centers: vascular, arrhythmia, structural heart disease, heart failure, prevention and imaging.
These allow us to bring together specialized teams of surgeons, cardiologists and diagnosticians - for a broad perspective on the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
Our approach - combined with the close integration of basic science and clinical research with the clinical practice of medicine and surgery - ensures that Heart Institute patients receive the latest, most promising treatment options.
- Vascular - Features innovative work being done in carotid stents and endovascular stenting
- Arrhythmia - Includes the latest advances in atrial fibrillation surgery and ablations
- Structural Heart Disease - Includes groundbreaking minimally invasive robotic surgery
- Heart Failure - Uses a hub-and-spoke approach to actively treat patients and the hospital, and help them manage their symptoms at home
- Prevention - Focuses on disease prevention, early detection and rehabilitation
- Imaging - Includes the latest in medical imaging
