Title: Staff Nurse II - Cardiac Surgical Intermediate Unit
How long have you been at PCMH? I started in 2003 as an RN in the CSIU."
Why nursing? "I had a strong interest in cardiac surgery and in disease management. Eventually I'd like to be in the Great 100 or be on the list for the Institute of Nursing Excellence."
Why nursing here? "We have a great team and we work so well together. Support is available when needed. Also, this is a tertiary referral center, so it's a center of excellence for many specialties. I'm also able to travel to both the sea and mountains from Greenville. This also makes it easier to access the hospital, university, theaters and great restaurants."
What's the best part of your day? "All of the support, appreciation and encouragement that we get from patients and staff. I worked on the Endocrine team, teaching the new grads the Go For The Gold and cornerstone programs, and taught facilitators for Go For The Gold. That was very rewarding."
Any parting thoughts? "As long as I can remember, I have always been one of those positive, do-your-very-best kinds of people. In my time at PCMH, these philosophies have remained the same."
Go inside the new East Carolina Heart Institute and find out first hand what is like to be a part of the team.
